Только в этом случае вы получите от данного накопителя гарантированные скорости чтения до 3500 Мбайт/c. Найти их можно в современных материнских платах с сокетом LGA1151 для процессоров Intel. Например, в системной плате ASUS PRIME B360-PLUS имеется два слота M.2 с поддержкой интерфейса PCI-E/SATA 3.0 и ключом M.
Кроме того, слот M.2 имеется и на материнских платах с сокетом AM3 и AM4 для процессоров AMD. Например системную плату GIGABYTE GA-A320M-S2H (rev. 1.x) производитель оснастил всего одним таким разъемом с поддержкой PCI-E/SATA 3.0 и ключом M.
Если ваша плата в настольном ПК не имеет такого слота, решить проблему подключения SSD c M.2 позволит специальный адаптер-переходник PCI Express Gen3x4, в который можно вставить сам диск, а переходник установить в слот PCI-e. При этом, никакого дополнительного питания к диску подводить не потребуется. Еще одним условием для полноценного использования скоростных возможностей такого типа SSD диска является поддержка в BIOS режима NVMe 1.3.
В старых материнских платах для использования диска SSD потребуется переключиться в режим AHCI, что может привести к неработоспособности Windows и ее переустановке, если до этого стоял режим IDE. К тому же, при таком подключении вы, скорее всего, не сможете полностью реализовать скоростные возможности SSD диска SX8200 Pro — падение может составить примерно вдвое. Кроме того, при таком подключении вы не сможете использовать данный диск в качестве системного, т.к. Windows не позволит это сделать, хотя установщик будет видеть этот носитель.
И наконец, хоть данный формфактор носителя очень мал и предназначен также для установки в очень тонкие ноутбуки, если в вашей модели слота M.2 с ключом M не предусмотрено, то и подключить вы его не сможете. Ниже мы расскажем о тестовых испытаниях при различных подключениях.
Как устроен новый SSD SX8200 Pro
Новый носитель построен на микросхемах памяти с технологией 3D NAND Flash, которая обеспечивает большую емкость в меньшем размере и увеличивает ресурс работы чипа. Высокая скорость достигается за счет применения в контроллере протокола нового поколения NVMe 1.3 (Non-Volatile Memory Express, NVM Express). Он использует шину PCI Express (самую производительную в компьютере), которая обладает существенно большими скоростями передачи данных, чем традиционная шина SATA.
В данной модели производитель интегрировал контроллер SM2262EN от Silicon Motion с функцией SLC кэширования и использования буфера DRAM. Для обеспечения сохранности данных при копировании здесь реализован улучшенный алгоритм исправления ошибок LDPC (код с малой плотностью проверок на четность), что в разы увеличивает срок службы памяти. В качестве носителей на плате применили два чипа DDR3 Nanya NT5CC64M16GP.
SSD диск имеет компактный бескорпусной формфактор с интерфейсом подключения M.2 (NGFF), который предназначен для использования в тонких ноутбуках и стационарных ПК через соответствующий разъем или через переходник в слот PCI Express Gen3x4 (другими словами — в слот для видеокарт).
Тесты
Как и в случае с оперативной памятью, в качестве тестовых стендов я использовал две моих сборки — первую с комплектующими от Corsair на чипсете Intel Z390 и вторую с Ryzen 7 3700x на X570 чипсете. Intel поддерживает Gen3, и я хотел посмотреть, как работает обратная совместимость. X570 и «ряженка», конечно же, полностью утилизируют все возможности диска.

Видно, что диск хорошо себя показал на платформе PCIe Gen3 — скорость сопоставима с конкурентами. А на компьютере следующего поколения последовательное чтение существенно выросло. Случайное чтение пока все еще не доходит до уровня Optane-дисков от Intel, но они слишком дороги для многих компьютерных энтузиастов.
Каких-то существенных просадок при тестировании 16 Гб и 32 Гб замечено не было, и даже крупные тестовые файлы размером 64 Гб выдают хорошие показатели.

Arriving as a slight change on the blueprints of the previously released Corsair MP600 Pro, the newly PS5 optimized Corsair MP600 Pro LPX is very much a second helping of what that same SSD did previously. It does bring a few tweaks into the mix (modified Heatsink, improved NAND, etc) but if you are already an owner of the PC focused MP600 Pro, there isn’t going to be much new for you here. However, if this is your first time considering the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX as your gamer SSD of course, is it a remarkably solid, well built and understated piece of storage! Performing remarkably well in testing on the PC and PS5, this IS a good SSD. That said, the PCIe Gen 4 SSD market is fast becoming a very crowded place and despite its pluses, the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX may be in danger of fading into the background. Luckily its pricing appears more dynamic than many out there (even at its launch) and the Corsair name carries enough kudos in the PC market to get picked up by console gamers nonetheless. A good SSD that, had it been released just 6 months before, I think would have made a bigger noise for buyers to hear! PS5 Buyers, don’t hesitate! PC buyers, maybe save a few quid and opt for the MP600 Pro standard version.

Installing a PS5 M.2 SSD Is The Easiest Frustration You’ll Experience
Of course, an M.2 SSD is not even a rarity. They’ve been supported by motherboards for years now and have been enthusiastically adopted by the PC community, where they can speed up your gaming rig by light-years. Sony, however, has very strict standards for what type of drive you need to install into a PlayStation 5, thanks to the console’s focus on being able to seamlessly and rapidly jump into any PS5 optimized game. While you could use the MP600 Pro LPX as a standard PC M.2 drive, it’s marketed explicitly for the PlayStation 5 and handily exceeds those standards.
The MP600 Pro LPX is a Gen4 PCIe M.2 SSD with a 2280 form factor. Installation is both one of the easiest upgrades you’ll do and one of the more annoying. Actually installing the drive is a breeze once you get the side panel off to access the port. Remove the bracket, slot the brace into the right hole, pop in the SSD and secure it to the system. The M.2 SSD installs similar to how you’d install a stick of RAM on a PC motherboard, but it’s along the shorter end rather than the longer edge. Screw the bracket back in place, put the system back together and you’re ready to go.
It’s getting to that port that sucks, though. The PlayStation 5, for all its perks and benefits, is still a very odd-shaped console. After we removed the stand and plopped it on its side, we attempted to follow Sony’s instructions for removing the side plate before giving in and finding a YouTube video. It’s not a hard process at all! Once we watched someone else do it, it was a breeze to pop off and back on. It just does not feel intuitive at all, and there was a definite fear that we were going to snap those pristine white fins you’re expected to pull on.
Design & Build
The original MP600 Pro had a distinctive black design with a 15mm high profile created by a chunky aluminium heatsink. That made it too large to fit into the Sony PS5 NVMe slot, although it was acceptable for use on most PCs.
Realising this limitation, the new MP600 Pro LPX has a redesigned heatsink that reduces that height by 4mm, almost a third, though it also reduces the surface area available for cooling.
What I like about this design is that it incorporates screws enabling the heatsink to be detached, ideal for those that might have cooling as part of their motherboard. In physical respects, the LPX is the same length and width as the original model.
One change I noticed was that the branding on the original was in the middle of the heatsink. The placement of the branding placement presumed, as is generally the case on a PC motherboard, that the edge connector is to the right.
On the LPX, if used on a PC, the lettering will be upside down. On a PS5, it will be correctly orientated. Not sure why Corsair bothered to do this, as it is more likely to be seen through a transparent side panel of a PC than buried inside a PS5 chassis.
If those were the only changes in this product, we probably wouldn’t have reviewed it but under the surface, Corsair has made other adjustments that might make the LPX the MP600 Pro desirable.
Conclusion
The Corsair MP600 Pro is an M.2 SSD aimed at delivering high performance. While it looks near identical to the Corsair MP600 Core, the Pro leverages TLC NAND versus the Core’s QLC for higher performance and good endurance. The drive comes with quoted speeds of 7GB/s read and 6.55GB/s write and in capacities of 1TB and 2TB. There is also a liquid-cooled, Hydro X version for those that need optimal performance over time.
For performance, we ran our Application Workload Analysis in the form of SQL Server latency, our VDBench Workloads, and Blackmagic. For SQL Server latency the Corsair MP600 Pro had an aggregate average latency of 3ms. In our VDBench tests, the MP600 Pro saw highlights of 303K IOPS in 4K read, 225K IOPS in 4K write, 4.98GB/s in 64K read (the overall highest score out of any PCIe Gen4 drives), and 1.27GB/s in 64K write. For VDI we saw the drive hit 93K IOPS in boot, 42K IOPS in Initial Login, and 20K IOPS in Monday Login. For Blackmagic, the drive was able to hit 5.2GB/s read and 5.96GB/s write.
The Corsair MP600 Pro is an M.2 SSD that delivers decent performance overall and really shined in two of our tests. In 64K read and Blackmagic the MP600 Pro really shined and beat out the previous top-performing drive. Like the MP600 Core, the drive comes with a large heat spreader that limits where it can be installed.

Verdict
Corsair is making much of the LPX as a drive explicitly made for the Sony PS5, and for that job, it is probably over specified. But, what’s concerning about this is that this drive is better than the PS5 can fully exploit, and a better home for it is a PC, where some of the tweaks that Corsair made can truly shine.
If the PCIe Gen 4 drive has performance levels better than those specified by Sony for the PS5, the difference between this and other Gen 4 drives in terms of speed isn’t a significant factor in the user experience.
However, on the PC, the firmware enhancements on the LPX has delivered a drive with good all-around performance and excellent consistency.
That performance profile coupled with support for hardware encryption and realistic pricing makes the LPX desirable for a much wider range of potential customers.
For PS5 owners, the LPX now fits in your console and has more than enough performance to launch games rapidly. For those buyers, it will more than likely come down to the price, as for a 2TB or 4TB capacity drive the LPX is easily more affordable than the Seagate FireCuda 530 with a heatsink.
PC users looking for optimal write performance should stump for the 2TB or 4TB models, rather than the smaller models.
Is the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX M.2 SSD Worth Buying?
Of course, there is another problem inherent with the idea of using an M.2 SSD: pricing. We tested the 2TB version, which has an MSRP of $339.99. There are three other sizes available, as well: 500GB for $99.99, 1TB for $169.99 and 4TB for $784.99. It’s a steep cost, but it isn’t an unusual one. Comparatively, the 1TB Seagate Expansion Card for the Xbox Series X|S retails at $289.99, nearly double the cost of Corsair’s drive. There’s also the added benefit that the MP600 Pro can be used as a PC SSD, meaning you’ll likely be able to find a use for it years from now when you retire that PS5 for the next generation.
Ultimately, we love the MP600 Pro LPX. Not having to juggle games is a wonderful feeling, and they run so smooth that we can’t even tell they’re on a secondary storage device. While it’s a shame these consoles aren’t shipping with enough storage to play the games we want to and not juggle, Corsair’s efforts go a long way toward solving that problem. The price might be a tough pill to swallow, but if you’re playing multiple huge games at once (or have an ISP data cap that won’t allow you to keep downloading the same game over and over), it’s a quick and easy upgrade that makes your PS5 experience that much nicer.

Review of the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD
When Corsair released their first high performing SSD entry onto the PCIe 4 m.2 NVMe tier, they did so into a significantly less crowded marketplace than it is right now. The MP600 was one of the first Phison E16 SSDs to arrive on the scene and it made quite the mark! Then the Phison E18 prosumer model arrived in the MP600 Pro (Originally reviewed here on NASCompares, it scored very well in its review and benchmark ), but fast forward to 2022 and corsair have revisited this SSD with a new heatsink and tweaked firmware (optimized in favour of PS5 utilization) in the new Corsair MP600 Pro LPX. This new revision of the Corsair MP600 embraces some physical differences in the heatsink (changing the rather beefy PC targetted H/S), but for the most part is the same SSD, with the same architecture as the MP600 that came before it. That said, with the boost in SSD deployment in PS5 consoles around the world, the move by the brand to make their flagship prosumer SSD more accessible to that market makes a lot of sense. That said, is this the same old SSD with a simple paint job? What sets the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX apart from its predecessor? Let’s find out.
Corsair’s MP600 Pro Runs So Smooth You Won’t Notice Its Installed
Once the drive was installed, it was just a matter of letting the system format it for use in the PS5, and we were off to the races. Spec-wise, the MP600’s sequential read hits 7,100 MB/s, far exceeding Sony’s 5,500 MB/s requirements (which is also the speed of the stock storage). We tested the unit with a variety of games on a PlayStation 5 Disc Edition – Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, specifically. For the purposes of our testing, we played the game on the internal PS5 SSD, then moved the game from the internal drive to the M.2 SSD, then fired up the game from there. The difference was seamless. Moving games between the drives was practically instantaneous; even massive installs like Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy moved in seconds.
After the games moved to the M.2, they were ready to go and ran just as well as they did off the internal drive. Corsair’s literature tells us we could potentially see a performance boost, but it’s in terms of 5-30 seconds. Sure, it’s a potential improvement, but hardly anything we noticed in the long run. In fact, we couldn’t tell anything, which was precisely the result we wanted. The games run just as well off Corsair’s M.2 as they do off Sony’s stock storage, with no noticeable difference. However, not having to wait for a game to reinstall after removing it to make room for another game is a godsend in an era of gaming where file sizes aren’t getting smaller.
This brings us to that original point: if anything, we’re annoyed this is an issue that needs to be solved. Both Sony and Microsoft did a massive disservice to users with the pitifully small storage size offerings on their next-gen consoles. Hell, even the original Nintendo Switch only shipped with a miserable 32GB internal storage, and the new Switch OLED has a not-much-better 64GB. While the Series X’s 1TB storage is a step in the right direction, it only has around 800 GB of that which are usable. Similarly, the PS5 Disc Edition winds up with about 700 GB of usable space, and the Xbox Series S’ roughly 364GB of usable space is a joke. If you’re playing some of the biggest games available on any of these consoles, that space is consumed quickly. Corsair’s MP600 Pro solves a huge problem with Sony’s consoles this generation, but it’s a problem that should have been solved when we were first seeing storage space become an issue on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Так, в бенчмарке CristalDiskMark скорости чтения составили для сжимаемых данных почти 1700 Мбайт/с, а записи — 1120 Мбайт/с. Несжимаемые данные обрабатывались на скоростях соответственно на чтение — 540 Мбайт/с и запись — 420 Мбайт/с. Бенчмарк AS SSD традиционно продемонстрировал чуть меньшие данные: скорость чтения сжимаемых данных — 1330 Мбайт/с, а записи — 978 Мбайт/с. ATTO Disk Benchmark подтвердил результаты первого бенчмарка — скорости чтения равны 1620 Мбайт/с и записи 1120 Мбайт/с.
Отметим, что во время теста мы проводили замеры температуры контроллера и чипов памяти и результаты нас приятно удивили: даже при длительных испытаниях температура всех элементов не поднималась выше 43 градусов. Мы специально не стали устанавливать идущий в комплекте радиатор, чтобы иметь возможность оценить нагрев самих кристаллов. Радиатор, очевидно, устанавливать и не потребуется.
И напоследок небольшое видео — как работает SSD в составе переходника PCI-express gen3x4.
Данный пример с установкой новейшего типа SSD накопителя на старенький ПК продемонстрировал возможность для владельцев древнего железа приобщиться к хранилищам данных со скоростями, сопоставимыми по показателям с оперативной памятью.

При взгляде на Corsair Force Series Gen.4 PCIe MP600 сразу бросается в глаза предустановленная система охлаждения. Радиатор легко снимается и в теории накопитель можно установить даже в ноутбук. Но в этом случае придется обеспечить адекватное охлаждение. Напомню, что NVMe-накопители могут серьезно нагреваться и «тротлить», теряя скорость.
Радиатор внушительный, но без него не обойтись.
В отличии от большинства конкурентов с красивыми и совершенно нефункциональными радиаторами, у MP600 радиатор имеет общую высоту 10 мм и высокие ребра, которые значительно увеличивают площадь поверхности и, как следствие, улучшают теплоотдачу в атмосферу.
Сделано в Тайване, где производится практически вся память в мире.
Чтобы снять радиатор, можно отщелкнуть зацепки при помощи плоской отвертки.
Теплопроводящая прокладка в форме плоской жевательной резинки подогнана под размер накопителя.
Радиатор Force Series Gen.4 PCIe MP600 выполнен из алюминия. А нижняя часть — из стали толщиной 0.3 мм, которая тоже помогает распределять тепло от двух модулей NAND на обратной стороне печатной платы.

The Corsair MP600 PRO LPX was selected for this test and it was tested using multiple benchmark tools, from a cold boot, in the 2nd storage slot (i.e not the OS drive). Each test was conducted three times (full details of this are shown in the YouTube Review of the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX over on NASCompares):

- Test SSD connected to Secondary PCIe Gen 4 M.2 Slot
Once again, it is worth looking at the temperatures that this SSD hit during the testing. 1 minute cooldown was provided between tests and although the SSD clearly dissipated heat effectively, it still maintained a comparatively high temp during the tests.
Using CrystalDisk, we got a good measure of the drive and verified that this PCIe Gen 4 x4 SSD was indeed using the 4×4 lane. Additionally, the temp averaged out around 47C between each test being conducted.
The first tests were conducted using the ATTO disk benchmark software. The first was a 256MB test file size and below is a breakdown of the transfer rates and IOPS. The 2nd Test was a 1GB test file and finally, the last test was with a 4GB test file. The system was given 1-minute cool downtime between tests, no screen recording software was used (remove overhead) and a heatsink was used throughout (no reboots)

Next, although the ATTO tests were quite good, but not what I would have hoped from this SSD, so I moved on to the Crystal Disk Mark testing to see how well it would handle our last barrage of tests. The first test was the 1GB file testing, which measured both sequential and random, as well as the read and write IOPS. Tests were conducted on a 1GB, 4GB and 16GB Test File. I also included a mixed 70/30 read and write task to give a little bit more of a realistic balanced workload. These tests were conducted with 1-minute cooling break in between

Next, I switched to AS SSD benchmark. A much more thorough test through, I used 1GB, 3GB and 5GB test files. Each test includes throughput benchmarks and IOPS that are respective to the larger file sizes (important, if you are reading this and trying to compare against the reported 4K IOPS from the manufacturer).

Ordinarily, I would introduce tests like BlackMagic and AJA into the mix here, but even a short burst of testing on an NVMe like this would over saturate the cache memory on board. Nevertheless, in the short term we still could ascertain the reported performance on 1GB, 4GB and 16GB file testing was:

Overall, the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX was certainly able to provide some solid performance, as well as potentially exceed the test figures here on a more powerful machine. Given the reported Read and Write statistics that the brand has stated publically, I think there is enough evidence here to back up those claims. IOPs were a little lower than I expected (I hoped to see them cross into the 1Million mark), but again, we were testing very large file types, so this would have to be taken in context.
Corsair MP600 PRO LPX SSD Review – Packaging
A close look at the retail box of the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX shows us that this range differs ever so slightly from the original version and its yellow/black design. The box is fairly monotone and conservative, lacking the loud luminous yellow of its predecessor.
The retail box shows us the familiar rigid packaging we saw in the Corsair MP600 Pro, as well as the inclusion of installation instructions and warranty information. All fairly standard stuff.
There are details on the box regarding the performance of the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX, as well as further information on how well this SSD performs. Much like the Corsair MP600 Pro original version, the new LPX release is remarkably restrained in its reported performance from the brand (in our testing of its general predecessor, we would it could achieve a good 10-15% more than the brand implied. Let’s hope this is the case once again.
Removing the SSD from all the retail packaging, we find the SSD and its PS5 optimised heatsink. Quite similar to the Nextorage NEM-PA discussed here on the channel a couple of weeks ago, the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX SSD is a chunky but low profile m.2 heatsink that features multiple airflow channels for assisting heat dissipation. However, this SSD heatsink will likely be encased in the PS5 SSD expansion slot and that will marginally limit airflow.
The Corsair MP600 Pro LPX SSD heatsink though is still quite coversome and surrounds the SSD very neatly. Arriving as a pre-installed heatsink purchase, this SSD arrives tightly cases inside the aluminium surrounding case.
With so many first party SSD heatsinks arriving in the market (largely due to the increased heat generated by PCIe 4 Performance generally), the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX heatsink still manages to be a little generic but is certainly built to a standard that I feel it will do the job it is built for. The heatsink has been clearly designed to fit inside the PS5 m2 SSD expansion slot (hence the several references to the console on the retail packaging) and I am pleased to confirm that it fits without a hitch! I’m still not a huge fan of the covered design of the SSD slot on the PS5, but still, this heatsink has adapted well compared with the standard MP600 model.
The heatsink on the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX in a PS5 deployment seems a good fit, but when we performed our PC benchmarks (detailed later in the review) it should be noted that the temperature of the controller rose a pinch higher (around 10-12 degrees) higher than most other similarly designed SSD+Heatsink combos, peaking at the most intense testing at 57 degrees. This is still well within the operational temperatures of this SSD to perform, but I have seen similar architecture SSDs (in the controller, NAND, memory) to the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX maintain the temperature better and that is often down to the heatsink being chunkier or a larger surface area in a PC environment to capture active airflow.
When installing the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX in the PS5, we performed a benchmark using the system’s own tool several times and although the highest it achieved was 6388MB/s, the best average temp was around 6300-6400MB/s.
As you would expect, the SSD immediately appeared in the PS5 storage manager and was available for use straight away.

To put the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX SSD PS5 Performance Benchmark into a little perspective, here is how it compares against the Addlink A95, Adata XPG Gammix S70, Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus and Gigabyte Aorus 7000s – four SSDs that are all PS5 supported and VERY similar architecture very little difference between the others in this tier, it is a solid benchmark.

Full PS5 Testing of this is all available as a playlist over on the NASCompares YouTube channel. But for now, let’s carry on with looking at the hardware of the A440, how it conventionally benchmarks and how it compares with currently favourite PS5 SSDs like the WD Black and Seagate Firecuda 530,
So that is the physical design of the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX SSD. But what about the hardware components themselves? Does the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX cut the mustard in terms of current generation hardware and protocols? Let’s find out. First thing’s first, let’s remove the heatsink of the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX, which is done by the removal of four individual Phillips head screw heads. Also, don’t do this! It will invalidate your warranty.
Inside, we find thermal paste/gel applied directly onto the key components. This SSD was a 2-sides PCB (8x 256GB NAND) and thermal material was applied on either side. I expected to see a rectangular thermal pad, but this direct application onto the key components is arguably better (more precisely on the controller). Let’s discuss the main components and architecture of this SSD:

Честно говоря, после iCue я был немного удивлен столь бедному интерфейсу. Нет, все необходимое в нем есть и все функции работают. Но выглядит Corsair SSD Toolbox так, будто программисты сделали ее за спиной у дизайнеров, году этак в 2005 — даже иконки на кнопках выглядят, как временные.
Минимализм в интерфейсе ничем не оправдан, но программа функциональная, претензий к ней нет.
